India has formally protested against Canada’s allegations concerning Union Home Minister Amit Shah, asserting that the claims made during a Canadian parliamentary committee hearing are “absurd” and “baseless.” Canada’s Deputy Minister David Morrison made comments referencing Amit Shah during a recent session of the Standing Committee on Public Safety and National Security in Ottawa, prompting India to lodge a formal protest.
On Saturday, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) summoned a representative from the Canadian High Commission, where they delivered a diplomatic note outlining India’s concerns. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated, “We had summoned the representative of the Canadian High Commission yesterday and handed over a diplomatic note regarding the proceedings held on October 29, 2024.”
