New Delhi: The 11th Session of the India-Russia Working Group on Modernization and Industrial Cooperation was held today at Vanijya Bhawan, New Delhi, under the framework of the India-Russia Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technological and Cultural Cooperation (IRIGC-TEC).
The session was co-chaired by Shri Amardeep Singh Bhatia, Secretary, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, and H.E. Mr. Alexey Gruzdev, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, Russian Federation.
Review of Progress and Future Roadmap
The Working Group reviewed progress made since its 10th session, with comprehensive discussions held on modernization efforts, industrial technology, and expanding sectoral cooperation. The session provided a renewed platform for consolidating strategic initiatives across key sectors including railways, mining, fertilizers, and aluminium.
Key Areas of Industrial Collaboration of India-Russia
Both sides reaffirmed commitment to strategic industrial cooperation, focusing on several high-impact areas:

Aerospace Technology: Joint initiatives on wind tunnel modernization and production of small aircraft piston engines.

Advanced Manufacturing: Collaboration in carbon fibre technology, 3D printing, and additive manufacturing.

Minerals and Mining: Exploration of rare earth elements, critical mineral extraction, and underground coal gasification.

Railways and Fertilizers: Enhanced engagement in railway infrastructure, fertilizer production, and aluminium sector development.
There was also mutual interest in capacity building, technology transfer, and industrial waste management solutions.
Protocol Signed to Formalize Cooperation
The meeting concluded with the signing of the Protocol of the 11th Session by both co-chairs, reaffirming the deep-rooted strategic partnership between India and Russia. The protocol formalizes commitments across various areas and charts a clear roadmap for intensified cooperation under the modernization and industrial cooperation pillar of the IRIGC-TEC framework.
Broad Participation from Industry and Government
The session witnessed participation from around 80 delegates including senior officials, technical experts, and industry representatives from both countries, reflecting the broad-based and inclusive nature of the bilateral engagement.
