UTTAR PRADESH: In response to circulating reports suggesting that passengers might travel free of cost during the Maha Kumbh Mela 2025, Indian Railways has issued a firm denial. The Ministry of Railways labeled such claims as “entirely baseless and misleading,” emphasizing that no provisions exist for free travel during the event or any other occasion.
The ministry reiterated that traveling without a valid ticket is strictly prohibited under Indian Railways’ regulations and constitutes a punishable offense. To accommodate the anticipated influx of pilgrims, Indian Railways is implementing several measures, including the establishment of special holding areas, additional ticket counters, and other necessary facilities to ensure seamless travel during the Maha Kumbh Mela.
The Maha Kumbh Mela, scheduled to commence on January 13, 2025, in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, is expected to attract millions of devotees from across the country. Indian Railways is committed to facilitating their journey by running special trains and enhancing infrastructure to manage the large crowds effectively.
Pilgrims and travelers are advised to purchase valid tickets and utilize the official Indian Railways platforms for accurate information regarding train services and schedules during the Maha Kumbh Mela.
