Indian Railways plans to launch a ‘super app’ by 2024, integrating ticketing, schedules, platform passes, and feedback for enhanced passenger experience.
The new app will centralize existing services from several applications. Currently, passengers use separate IRCTC apps: Rail Connect for reserved tickets, eCatering for meals, and Rail Madad for feedback assistance. This integration is expected to simplify the digital infrastructure, making it more accessible and efficient for users. The IRCTC Rail Connect app, with over 100 million downloads, remains the primary ticketing interface and will continue to handle ticket reservations exclusively.

IRCTC anticipates the super app to be a profitable venture, likely boosting revenue through streamlined services and third-party booking integrations. In the fiscal year 2023-24, IRCTC reported a significant profit of ₹1,111.26 crore. Notably, ticket sales contributed over 30% of its total revenue, highlighting the app’s potential to further enhance revenue streams through increased user engagement and streamlined access to services.
This initiative aligns with Indian Railways’ broader goal to modernize its services, improve passenger convenience, and boost digital engagement across its vast user base.
