Infosys Co-Founder Kris Gopalakrishnan Among 18 Accused Under SC/ST Atrocities Act

Former IISc Professor Alleges Caste-Based Discrimination and Wrongful Dismissal

Breaking News

Bengaluru: Infosys co-founder Senapathy Kris Gopalakrishnan, along with 17 members of the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), has been booked under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989. The case arises from a complaint by Dr. D. Sanna Durgappa, a former faculty member at IISc’s Centre for Sustainable Technologies.

Dr. Durgappa, who belongs to the Bovi community, a Scheduled Caste, alleges that in 2014, he was wrongfully implicated in a fabricated honey trap case, leading to his dismissal from service. He further claims that he was subjected to caste-based abuse and threats by the accused.

Following his complaint, the 71st City Civil and Sessions Court directed the Sadashivanagar police to register a case and initiate an investigation. Consequently, on January 27, 2025, a case was filed against Gopalakrishnan and the other accused, including IISc officials Govindan Rangarajan, Sridhar Warrier, Sandya Vishwswaraih, Hari K.V.S., Dasappa, Balaram P., Hemalata Mhishi, Chattopadyaya K., Pradeep D. Sawkar, and Manoharan.

As of now, there has been no official response from either IISc or Kris Gopalakrishnan regarding the allegations.
