New Delhi: Union Minister for Education, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, called upon the youth of India, especially students of premier institutes like IIT Delhi, to take the lead in driving innovation and advancing the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat. During his visit to IIT Delhi on August 17, 2025, the Minister interacted with undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral students, innovators, and researchers, emphasising their role in shaping India’s technological and economic self-reliance.
A Call to Youth for National Self-Reliance
Addressing the gathering, Shri Pradhan reiterated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Independence Day message that called on citizens to build a self-reliant and prosperous nation (Samridhh Bharat) by 2047. He stated that the present moment provides a historic opportunity to ignite collective action, harness youthful talent, and strengthen India’s capacity to innovate at global standards.
“The Government stands shoulder to shoulder with India’s innovators and researchers in their mission to shape a brighter future for our coming generations and to make India the global hub of solutions,” he said.
Students as Catalysts of Innovation
The Minister engaged with students to understand their aspirations, research projects, and technological pursuits, while encouraging them to continue innovating, tackling challenges, and working tirelessly until India achieves full self-reliance in critical areas.
He expressed confidence that the talent, tenacity, and resolve of the YuvaShakti (youth power), supported by the government’s policies and Prime Minister Modi’s vision, will serve as the bedrock of a Samridhh and Atmanirbhar Bharat.
Shri Pradhan also highlighted that IITs represent centres of excellence and drivers of technological sovereignty, where a culture of creativity, entrepreneurship, and problem-solving is fostering breakthrough research and innovation with global relevance.
Ministry’s Support for Higher Education & Research
On the occasion, Dr. Vineet Joshi, Secretary of the Department of Higher Education, reinforced the government’s commitment to support institutions like IIT Delhi. He noted that the Ministry of Education is extending all possible support to higher education institutes for:
