MUMBAI: Bollywood’s first family gathered recently to honor the extraordinary legacy of the legendary filmmaker Raj Kapoor as his 100th birth anniversary approaches on December 14, 2024. Kareena Kapoor Khan, along with Ranbir Kapoor, Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, and Neetu Kapoor, met Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who extended his support to the celebrations of Kapoor’s enduring contribution to Indian cinema.
The celebrations will culminate in a three-day cinematic tribute titled “Raj Kapoor 100 – Celebrating the Centenary of the Greatest Showman” from December 13 to December 15, 2024. This retrospective, organized by R.K. Films, the Film Heritage Foundation, and the National Film Archive of India, will screen 10 timeless classics such as Awara, Barsaat, Shree 420, and Mera Naam Joker across 135 theaters in 40 cities. With tickets priced at ₹100, the initiative aims to bring Kapoor’s artistry to a broader audience, fostering an appreciation for his revolutionary storytelling.
Kareena Kapoor shared her pride on social media, stating, “His legacy lives on. We are proud to celebrate my grandfather’s 100th birth anniversary through a journey of his most iconic films.” Alia Bhatt echoed her sentiments by sharing Kareena’s post and expressing admiration for the cinema icon.
