Karnataka Youth Congress Chief Questioned by SIT in Bitcoin Scam Probe

Breaking News

Bengaluru: Mohammed Haris Nalapad, President of the Karnataka Pradesh Youth Congress Committee, appeared before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Karnataka CID on Thursday as part of the ongoing investigation into the high-profile Bitcoin scam. This marks another significant development in the case that has gripped the state since 2020.

Nalapad and his brother, Omar Haris, were previously questioned in June 2024 for two days regarding their alleged financial transactions with hacker Srikrishna Ramesh, popularly known as Sriki. The brothers are under scrutiny for payments made towards Sriki’s lavish lifestyle, including stays at luxury hotels, travel expenses, and other costs incurred between 2017 and 2018.

Sriki, the alleged mastermind behind the Bitcoin scam, was arrested in November 2020. The scam involves the hacking of cryptocurrency exchanges, online poker platforms, and government portals, leading to the theft of Bitcoins worth crores of rupees. The SIT is also investigating the alleged involvement of high-profile individuals and politicians in facilitating Sriki’s activities.

Latest Developments:
Recent reports suggest that the SIT has uncovered new evidence linking more individuals to the scam. Investigators are focusing on tracing the flow of illicit funds and identifying beneficiaries of the stolen Bitcoins. The probe has also raised questions about the role of law enforcement agencies in the initial stages of the investigation.

The Bitcoin scam continues to unravel, with the SIT leaving no stone unturned to bring all involved parties to justice. As the investigation progresses, more revelations are expected to surface, potentially implicating additional high-profile figures.
