Karti Chidambaram Defends EVMs, Rejects Manipulation Claims

Chidambaram’s comments reflect a broader debate on the reliability of EVMs in Indian elections, a topic that continues to be hotly contested in the political sphere. As the discourse on electoral transparency persists, the call for a deeper investigation into the issue may intensify.

Breaking News

In a recent statement, Congress MP Karti Chidambaram voiced his confidence in the effectiveness of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), dismissing allegations of their manipulation that have been circulating among opposition parties, particularly within the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance. His remarks came after several prominent leaders, including Shiv Sena (UBT) leaders Sanjay Raut and Priyanka Chaturvedi, expressed doubts over the results of the Maharashtra Assembly elections.

Chidambaram, who has participated in elections since 2004, emphasized that he had never encountered any issues with EVMs. He stated, “I have personally had no bad experience with EVMs, nor do I have any evidence suggesting tampering. If others have doubts, it is for them to explain, but I have no doubt about the robustness of the system.”

In contrast, MVA leaders, following the election results on November 23, raised concerns about the integrity of the process. Sanjay Raut, Priyanka Chaturvedi, and Swara Bhasker questioned EVMs’ credibility, while Karti Chidambaram defended their reliability without evidence of tampering. As the discourse on electoral transparency persists, the call for a deeper investigation into the issue may intensify.
