As the February 2025 Delhi Assembly elections approach, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal has ramped up his outreach efforts. On Saturday, during a padyatra in the Malviya Nagar constituency, he urged residents to withhold payment of inflated water bills, promising to waive them off if AAP returns to power.
“I’ve been informed that several residents have received unusually high and incorrect water bills. If you feel your bill is wrong, there’s no need to pay it. Once re-elected, we will waive them off,” Kejriwal assured during his interaction with the public. He also reminded citizens of AAP’s provision of 20,000 liters of free water per household each month.
Highlighting AAP’s governance over the past decade, Kejriwal cited achievements like uninterrupted electricity, free bus rides for women, improved schools, and better healthcare. Accompanied by Malviya Nagar MLA Somnath Bharti, Kejriwal met locals, shook hands, and took selfies during the padyatra, which was part of the party’s broader election campaign.
The padyatra, secured by a heavy police presence, underscores AAP’s focus on direct voter engagement ahead of the critical polls. Kejriwal’s promises aim to consolidate AAP’s voter base by addressing grassroots concerns, particularly over essential services like water and electricity.
With less than three months to go, AAP is intensifying efforts to retain its stronghold in the capital amid stiff competition.
