UTTAR PRADESH :The Maha Kumbh Mela, scheduled from January 13 to February 26, 2025, in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, is set to be a monumental event, blending the rich spiritual traditions of Sanatan Dharma with cutting-edge technological advancements. This 45-day festival is anticipated to attract over 400 million devotees from around the globe, making it the largest human gathering on Earth.
Digital Innovations Enhancing the Pilgrimage Experience
In preparation for this grand event, the Uttar Pradesh government is implementing several digital initiatives to streamline the pilgrimage experience:
- Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 App: A dedicated mobile application has been launched to assist pilgrims with navigation, information on key locations, and real-time updates.
- Multilingual Signages: To accommodate the diverse influx of devotees, multilingual signages are being installed throughout the Mela area, ensuring clear communication and guidance.
- Integration with Google Maps: The Mela area is being integrated with Google Maps, allowing pilgrims to navigate the vast expanse of ‘Mahakumbh Nagar’ with ease.
Robust Security Measures for a Safe Gathering
Ensuring the safety of millions is paramount. The authorities are deploying advanced security measures, including:
- Underwater Drones: For the first time, underwater drones capable of diving up to 100 meters will provide round-the-clock surveillance at the Sangam area.
- AI-Powered Surveillance: Over 2,500 cameras, some powered by artificial intelligence, will monitor crowd movements to prevent stampedes and ensure public safety.
- Cybersecurity Teams: A dedicated team of 56 cyber warriors will monitor online threats, with cyber help desks set up in all police stations to assist pilgrims.
Infrastructure and Amenities
To accommodate the massive influx of devotees, extensive infrastructure developments are underway:
- Temporary City Setup: A temporary city spanning 40 square kilometers is being established, featuring housing, roads, electricity, water supply, communication towers, and 11 hospitals.
- Advanced Fire Safety Measures: Over ₹131 crores have been allocated for fire safety measures, with advanced technologies, including video and thermal imaging systems, being installed to prevent fire incidents and enhance safety.
- Ganga Praharis: Approximately 500 dedicated Ganga Praharis will ensure the cleanliness and sanctity of the river during the Mela.
A Spiritual and Cultural Extravaganza
Beyond the rituals, the Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 will feature:
- Photo Exhibitions and Guided Bird Watching: Cultural exhibitions and bird-watching sessions will be organized to enrich the spiritual experience.
- Educational Outreach: Engagements with students and educational sessions will be conducted to spread awareness about the significance of the Mela.
- Promotion of Cultural and Eco-Tourism: Efforts are being made to promote cultural and eco-tourism, showcasing India’s rich heritage and natural beauty.
