Mumbai: In a significant move to bolster the film industry, Maharashtra’s Cultural Affairs Minister, Ashish Shelar, has directed his department to implement a single-window clearance system for issuing film shooting permits across the state. This initiative aims to position Maharashtra as a premier destination for film production, streamline the permit acquisition process, and generate substantial employment opportunities.

During a meeting at the Sahyadri Guest House, Minister Shelar emphasized the Cultural Affairs Department’s pivotal role in employment generation and societal awareness. He urged senior officials to execute necessary schemes effectively to enhance the department’s contribution to the state’s cultural landscape.

The meeting, attended by key figures including Additional Chief Secretary Vikas Kharge and Managing Director of Maharashtra Film, Theatre and Cultural Development Corporation Swati Mhase Patil, outlined an action plan for the next 100 days. Discussions encompassed the online implementation of the single-window clearance system, redevelopment of the P.L. Deshpande Maharashtra Kala Academy, and organization of significant cultural events such as the Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar special publication ceremony and the Maharashtra Bhushan Award ceremony.

The single-window clearance system is anticipated to simplify the process for filmmakers, reducing bureaucratic hurdles and expediting the issuance of necessary permits. This initiative aligns with the state’s broader objective to enhance ease of doing business and attract investment in the cultural and entertainment sectors.

By fostering a more efficient and filmmaker-friendly environment, Maharashtra aims to reaffirm its status as a leading hub for film production in India, contributing to economic growth and cultural development.
