Hyderabad: In a tragic incident, a 41-year-old man reportedly died by suicide after murdering his 35-year-old wife and 10-year-old son in their Hyderabad home on Friday. The couple’s elder son, aged 12, managed to escape and alert neighbors, who promptly informed the authorities.
The family, originally from Faizabad, Uttar Pradesh, had relocated to Hyderabad six years ago. The father worked at a bangle shop in Begumbazar. According to the police, the eldest son witnessed the horrific scene of his mother lying in a pool of blood and his father strangling his younger brother. The child fled the home and sought help from neighbors.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) A. Chandrasekhar stated that neighbors reported the incident, revealing that the man had long suspected his wife of infidelity. The couple had been in a prolonged conflict, with a heated argument on the night of the incident.
The police investigation revealed that the man initially killed his wife by slitting her throat and then strangled his son. Before taking his own life, he left a suicide note written in Hindi, asking for forgiveness and requesting that his body and his family’s be sent back to their native place.
The police have transferred the three bodies to Osmania General Hospital for postmortem and have informed the family in Uttar Pradesh. A case of murder and suicide has been registered, and the investigation is ongoing.
