The Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur (COHSEM) has initiated the Class 12 board examinations for the academic year 2025. On February 17, 2025, a total of 29,065 students began their assessments across 112 designated centers throughout the state. This marks a slight decline from the previous year, which saw 31,352 participants.
Stream-wise Student Distribution
The majority of examinees, 20,893 students, are enrolled in the science stream. The arts stream has 7,632 candidates, while the commerce stream comprises 540 students. This distribution underscores the continued preference for science-related courses among Manipur’s student population.
Geographical Allocation of Examination Centers
Of the 112 examination centers, 74 are situated in six valley districts, and the remaining 38 are located across ten hill districts. This allocation ensures that students from various regions have accessible venues to undertake their examinations.
Examination Schedule
The Class 12 board examinations are scheduled to run from February 17 to March 26, 2025. The timetable has been structured to provide adequate preparation time between subjects, aiming to facilitate optimal student performance.
Upcoming Class 10 Examinations
Preparations are also underway for the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) Examination, commonly known as the Class 10 exams. Conducted by the Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BoSEM), these exams are slated from February 19 to March 7, 2025. A total of 39,052 students, including 535 internally displaced individuals, are expected to appear across 155 centers statewide. The distribution includes 62 centers in hill districts and 93 in valley districts.
Institutional Participation
Among the Class 10 examinees, 8,468 students hail from 306 government schools, 27,374 from 583 private institutions, and 1,210 from 60 aided schools. This diverse representation highlights the collaborative efforts of various educational establishments in the state.
Measures for Smooth Conduct of Examinations
To ensure the examinations proceed without disruptions, BoSEM has established 33 flying squads or inspection teams. Additionally, a dedicated team comprising representatives from student bodies, guardians, and civil society organizations has been formed to oversee the process. Ten nodal officers have been appointed specifically for the hill districts to coordinate examination activities effectively.
Community Support and Well-Wishes
Various organizations have extended their best wishes to the students appearing for both Class 10 and Class 12 examinations. Groups such as the All Manipur Recognised Private Schools’ Welfare Association, All Naga Students’ Association, Manipur, Senapati District Students’ Association, Manipuri Students’ Federation, and the Democratic Students’ Alliance of Manipur have conveyed their hopes for a peaceful and successful examination period.
As the examination season progresses, the collective efforts of educational authorities, institutions, and community organizations aim to create a conducive environment for students to perform to the best of their abilities.
