NEW DELHI: The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has denied receiving any summons regarding Adani Group executives implicated in a U.S. bribery case. Responding to reports, MEA spokesperson Randhir Kumar stated, “The allegations are speculative, and no official request has been received via diplomatic channels. India maintains its commitment to international protocols.”
The case stems from U.S. prosecutors accusing Adani Group executives of paying $250 million in bribes between 2020-2024 to secure solar energy contracts. Allegations include falsified investor disclosures and obstructing investigations. Despite the accusations, the Adani Group has termed the charges “baseless” and reiterated its compliance with global laws.
The controversy has created political ripples, with opposition leaders questioning regulatory oversight. The Adani Group’s market value suffered, shedding ₹2.6 lakh crore amid investor concerns.
Randhir Kumar emphasized, “Diplomatic and legal frameworks ensure accountability, but due processes must be respected.” Observers believe the case’s resolution could significantly impact corporate governance and India-US trade relations.
