The Ministry of Jal Shakti convened a high-level brainstorming session chaired by Union Minister Shri C. R. Patil on November 26, 2025, in New Delhi to discuss ways to strengthen water governance, improve service delivery, and ensure long-term water security and sustainability across India.

The session featured open and constructive discussions involving Ministers of State Shri V. Somanna and Dr. Raj Bhushan Choudhary, senior ministry officials, and stakeholders. Topics covered included integrated management of water resources, drinking water and sanitation improvements, river rejuvenation programs, irrigation efficiency, institutional reforms, and leveraging modern technology for better outcomes.
Emphasis on Community Participation and Preparedness
Shri C. R. Patil emphasized the fundamental importance of water in human life and the need for continuous improvements in service delivery, financial planning, and optimal use of public resources. He highlighted the significance of community involvement and awareness at school levels and stressed scaling successful water management models nationwide. The Ministers of State advocated a holistic approach addressing floods, droughts, rainwater harvesting, and groundwater conservation while preparing for climate-related challenges.
Institutional Strengthening and Coordinated Follow-up
Ministry Secretaries underscored enhancing institutional mechanisms, strengthening grassroots capacity, and ensuring flagship programs’ benefits reach people effectively. The Ministry plans to compile key session suggestions for follow-up actions in coordination with concerned departments and states to address bottlenecks and promote synergy.
