Ministry of Cooperation Proudly Launches Swachhotsav Campaign Ahead of Swachh Bharat Diwas: Sept 2025

New Delhi: The Ministry of Cooperation has launched a special Swachhotsav Campaign from 17 September to 2 October 2025, as part of preparations to observe Swachh Bharat Diwas on Gandhi Jayanti. The campaign aims to transform Swachh Bharat into a people’s movement under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the guidance of Union Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah.

Swachhata Pledge and Cleanliness Drive

Secretary, Ministry of Cooperation, Dr. Ashish Kumar Bhutani initiated the campaign by administering the Swachhata Pledge to officers and staff and leading a cleanliness drive at Atal Akshay Urja Bhawan in New Delhi. He also planted a sapling under the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” initiative, emphasizing the link between environmental protection and the cleanliness mission.



Nationwide Swachhotsav Plan

The Ministry has outlined a series of activities from 17 September to 2 October 2025, focusing on cooperative participation across the country. Identified unkempt spaces will be developed as Cleanliness Targeted Units (CTUs), turning them into safe, clean, and public-friendly areas. Key campaign features include:

  • Cleanliness drives in public spaces

  • Health camps for Safai Karmacharis

  • Promotion of eco-friendly festivals

  • Awareness activities such as Waste to ArtSwachhata Pledge, and Reduce-Reuse-Recycle (RRR) initiatives

“Ek Din, Ek Ghanta, Ek Saath” Campaign

On 25 September 2025, the birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya, the Ministry will organize a special nationwide cleanliness drive. Citizens, cooperative societies, employees, and organizations will dedicate one hour of collective shramdaan for cleanliness. This unique initiative seeks to reinforce community participation in Swachh Bharat, embedding cleanliness as an everyday habit.

Gandhi Jayanti Observance

The Swachhotsav Campaign will culminate on 2 October 2025 with Swachh Bharat Diwas, marking Mahatma Gandhi’s 156th birth anniversary. Large-scale public participation across States, Union Territories, cooperative societies, and federations is expected. The focus is to make Swachhata Hi Seva 2025 a defining event that embeds cleanliness as a lifestyle practice.
