New Delhi: The Ministry of Culture is actively participating in the Special Campaign 5.0, launched by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), Government of India. The campaign is being implemented by the Ministry along with its Attached, Subordinate, and Autonomous Organizations nationwide. The preparatory phase was conducted from 16th to 30th September 2025, where targets for disposal and cleanliness were identified. The implementation phase began on 2nd October and will continue until 31st October 2025, with special emphasis on e-waste disposal in government offices.
Preparatory Activities and Target Setting
During the preparatory phase, the Ministry and its organizations identified 440 cleanliness sites across India. They also earmarked the disposal and redressal of pending references, including 146 MP references, 47 Parliamentary assurances, 37 PMO references, 33 State Government references, 114 public grievances, and 29 PG appeals. Additionally, 13,062 physical files and 633 e-files were identified for review. Scheduled scrap disposal will take place across the Ministry and its organizations on 9th October 2025.
Cleanliness Drive and Engagement Activities
The Ministry emphasizes voluntarism and collective action to foster cleanliness in its offices and society at large under the Swachhata mission. The campaign activities include walkathons, waste-to-art workshops, lectures, massive cleanliness drives, health camps, “Nukkad Nataks” (street plays), competitions, and distribution of sanitation kits.
Poster making and essay writing competitions were organized on 23rd and 24th September 2025 respectively to raise awareness. This was followed by a Swachhata pledge, plantation drive, and Shramdaan drive under the “Ek Din, Ek Ghanta, Ek Sath” campaign, along with sanitation kit distribution to Swachhata Mitras at Purana Quila on 25th September. A training session on records management was held at the National Archives of India on 29th September 2025. The National Science Centre organized a two-day “Waste to Art” workshop on 30th September and 1st October 2025.
Monitoring and Reporting: Ministry of Culture
The Ministry monitors daily progress, with updates uploaded on the SCDPM portal hosted by DARPG. All affiliated organizations are actively participating to achieve the set targets during the campaign period.
