New Delhi: On 9th September 2025, the Ministry of Women & Child Development (MoWCD) convened a Consultative Workshop on Identifying Reform Measures in Social, Welfare & Security Sectors. Chaired by Shri Anil Malik, Secretary of MoWCD, the workshop saw active participation from delegations representing all States and Union Territories. The discussions emphasized collaborative reforms aimed at enhancing service delivery for women and children, focusing on last-mile reach and inclusive growth.

The deliberations centered on critical flagship missions aligned with the wellbeing of women and children:

Mission Saksham Anganwadi & Poshan 2.0: Targeting improved nutrition and Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) delivery through integrated nutrition support programs. This initiative tackles malnutrition among children, adolescent girls, pregnant women, and lactating mothers by strengthening supplementary nutrition, child development interventions, capacity building, and digital monitoring tools.

Mission Shakti: Focused on strengthening women’s safety, security, and empowerment through legislative, policy, and institutional reforms, enhancing access to justice and social support systems.

Mission Vatsalya: Dedicated to the holistic development and protection of children, ensuring their rights and welfare through improved policy frameworks and services.
Inputs from States & UTs and Recommendations
Secretaries from States and UTs shared valuable insights on legislative, policy, procedural, and institutional reforms to accelerate and improve last-mile service delivery. The importance of scheme convergence, community participation, innovative practices, and digital interventions was underlined to improve effectiveness across social welfare sectors.
Commitment to Women and Child-Centric Growth
The workshop reiterated MoWCD’s “women and child first” approach, emphasizing collaborative reform efforts aimed at inclusive socioeconomic development and empowerment. Focus was placed on operationalizing flagship missions for maximum impact on health, nutrition, education, safety, and empowerment of vulnerable groups.
About Mission Saksham Anganwadi & Poshan 2.0: Ministry of Women & Child Development
Mission Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0 is an integrated nutrition support program mainly targeting malnutrition among children (0–6 years), adolescent girls (14–18 years), pregnant women, and lactating mothers, delivered primarily through upgraded Anganwadi centres. It encompasses supplementary nutrition, early childhood care, infrastructure development, and community mobilization to enhance health, wellness, and immunity. Poshan Tracker app provides real-time monitoring to strengthen service delivery outcomes.
