A private school and junior college in Mumbai’s western suburbs faced panic on Monday after receiving a bomb threat via email. The sender, claiming to be part of the ‘Afzal gang,’ alleged that a bomb had been planted on the school’s premises.

The Kandivali Education Society (KES) School and Junior College administration immediately informed the local police. A comprehensive search operation was launched by the police, along with the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) and a dog squad. However, after an extensive investigation, no suspicious objects were found, and the email was declared a hoax, an official confirmed.

Previous Similar Threats in Mumbai
This incident mirrors another recent hoax bomb threat received by a school in the Jogeshwari-Oshiwara area on January 23. Similar to the Kandivali case, the sender in that email also claimed that members of the ‘Afzal gang’ had planted explosives on the premises. Authorities investigated thoroughly but found no evidence of explosives, concluding the threat was false.

Heightened Vigilance and Action
Mumbai police have assured that investigations are underway to trace the individuals behind these hoax emails. Authorities have emphasized the need for stringent security protocols in educational institutions and urged the public to avoid spreading panic through such baseless threats.
