NALSAR University and Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) Proudly Organize National Conference Corp-Con 2025 in Hyderabad

New Delhi: On September 12, 2025, NALSAR University of Law and the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) jointly organized the national conference Corp-Con 2025 in Hyderabad. The conference, themed “Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) and the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC),” was inaugurated by Shri Gyaneshwar Kumar Singh, Director General and CEO of the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs, who served as the Chief Guest.

Inaugural Session Highlights

The inaugural session was chaired by Prof. Srikrishna Deva Rao, Vice-Chancellor of NALSAR, and held at the SAARC Law Hall. The session commenced with a warm welcome, ceremonial lamp lighting, and the rendition of the ICSI motto song “Satyam Vada, Dharam Chara.” Prof. Rao underscored the importance of self-reliance, environmental sustainability, and the application of ESG principles, referencing landmark cases such as M.C. Mehta (1985) and T.N. Godavarman.



Keynote Address by Shri Gyaneshwar Kumar Singh

Shri Singh elaborated on integrating ESG into corporate law, emphasizing stakeholder theory and the mediation role of the IBC. He discussed forthcoming amendments under IBC 3.0 and highlighted the importance of building trust and fostering collective responsibility among stakeholders to strengthen governance and corporate accountability.

Expert Perspectives and Panel Discussions

  • CS P. S. Rao shared insights from his experience in takeovers, mergers, insolvency, and restructuring, highlighting the evolution and challenges of ESG implementation.

  • Shri Inderjit Shaw emphasized embedding sustainability into everyday life, ESG curricula, and stakeholder engagement, with examples from Tata, Infosys, and Mahindra.

  • CS Ranjit Pandey distinguished ESG as a necessity distinct from CSR, emphasizing its legal and institutional frameworks.

Conclusion and Closing

The conference concluded with the presentation of souvenirs and a vote of thanks by Prof. P. Sreenivasa Subbha Rao, acknowledging the contributions of participants and organizers. Corp-Con 2025 served as a critical platform bridging academia, professional practice, and policy dialogue, reinforcing India’s commitment to responsible corporate governance and sustainable business practices.
