New Delhi: The two-day National Agriculture Conference – Rabi Abhiyan 2025 commenced on September 15, 2025, at Pusa, New Delhi. Organized by the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, this event marks the first time the annual Rabi Conference is being held over two days, emphasizing its growing importance. The theme—‘One Nation – One Agriculture – One Team’—underscores a unified, coordinated approach to India’s agricultural development. The conference gathers senior officials, scientists, policymakers, and state representatives to devise strategies for the upcoming Rabi cropping season 2025-26.

Union Agriculture Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan chaired the conference’s opening session, providing guidance on agricultural policies and reaffirming that India aims to be the global food basket, with an exceptional growth rate of 3.7%, the highest worldwide, driven by farmers, scientists, and government initiatives.

The Minister emphasized collective efforts and priority for farmer welfare across central and state governments. His focus included delivering improved seeds and technology, tackling spurious fertilisers, pesticides, and seeds through strict regulation, and promoting biostimulants that meet benchmark standards. He urged officials and agricultural departments to implement robust field-level programmes that directly benefit farmers.



Thematic Sessions and Discussions

The conference features six parallel breakout sessions involving diverse stakeholders who deliberate on:

  • Crop production planning and targets

  • Climate-resilient and water-efficient farming practices

  • Fertilizer management and input efficiency

  • Agricultural research focusing on practical farmer problems

  • Crop insurance expansion under Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana

  • Promoting ‘Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan’ with joint central and state participation
    Senior scientists from Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), agricultural universities, and Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) contributed significantly, especially sharing regional experiences and challenges.

The conference has brought together Agriculture Ministers from various states, senior Union officials including Union Ministry Secretaries, ICAR Director General Dr. M. L. Jat, Rajasthan Agriculture Minister Dr. Kirodi Lal Meena, farmer representatives, and experts.
