New Delhi: The two-day National Ayush Mission Workshop on “IT Solutions in the Ayush Sector” was inaugurated on September 18, 2025, by Smt. Veena George, Minister for Health and Women & Child Development, Government of Kerala, at the KTDC Waterscapes, Kumarakom. Organized by the National Ayush Mission (NAM), Kerala, the workshop brings together 91 representatives from 23 States and Union Territories, along with 155 senior officials, technical experts, and policymakers. The event aligns with priorities from the Ayush Departmental Summit 2025 held in New Delhi.
Embracing Innovation While Upholding Tradition
In her inaugural address, Minister Veena George emphasized the importance of balancing rapid technological advances with traditional values central to Ayush. She highlighted the need for seamless integration of digital tools into the healthcare ecosystem to facilitate real-time monitoring, enhanced human resource management, strong data frameworks, and transparent financial tracking. The Minister called for collaborative efforts to develop a unified, interoperable digital framework that strengthens the National Health Mission and ensures accessible, affordable, and citizen-centric care.
Ministry of Ayush’s Vision for Digital Transformation
Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary of the Ministry of Ayush, delivered the keynote address urging participants to adopt digital innovations to improve accessibility, affordability, and service quality in Ayush. He explained ongoing initiatives such as the Ayush Grid and digital portals aimed at fostering collaboration among States and Union Territories, standardizing software, and enabling equitable access nationwide. Stressing the importance of interoperability, he outlined how these digital tools empower public health governance rooted in evidence and equity.
Kerala’s Role and Collaborative Opportunities
Shri Rajan N. Khobragade, Additional Chief Secretary (Health & Ayush), Government of Kerala, commended the state’s digital health achievements and urged others to leverage Kerala’s model for creating user-friendly, centrally integrated, yet locally adaptable platforms. The workshop will serve as a platform for sharing best practices, fostering innovation, and aligning digital systems nationally.
Workshop Highlights and Future Engagements
The workshop includes discussions on program management, patient care, monitoring, human resource and data management, and financial tracking. A two-day field visit on September 20–21 will expose participants to Ayush facilities across Kerala’s districts of Kottayam, Alappuzha, and Thrissur. These include NABH Entry Level Certified and Kayakalp Award-winning Ayushman Arogya Mandir hospitals, Sports Ayurveda projects, and initiatives like Arogyanouka, Palliative Care, Drishti, and Ayurkarma.
