A recent workshop on the National Digital Livestock Mission (NDLM) was conducted at the NASC Complex, Pusa, New Delhi, under the chairmanship of Shri Naresh Pal Gangwar, Secretary, Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying (DAHD), Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying. The event brought together senior officials and representatives from seven states and union territories to accelerate the implementation of NDLM and promote digital transformation in livestock management.
Focus on Digital Platforms and Data Integrity
The workshop highlighted the critical role of digital platforms like Bharat Pashudhan in enabling efficient livestock management and service delivery. Discussions centered on improving digital literacy among livestock owners and frontline workers, promoting e-governance, and utilizing data effectively at all administrative levels. Shri Gangwar stressed maintaining data integrity and leveraging field-level data for better monitoring and decision-making, urging wider participation from stakeholders to ensure sustainable adoption of digital technologies.
Objectives of the National Digital Livestock Mission
NDLM aims to establish a farmer-centric digital ecosystem supporting breed improvement, disease surveillance, and product traceability. The Bharat Pashudhan platform has already registered over 9.4 crore livestock owners and 34.5 crore animals across India, marking a significant leap forward in comprehensive livestock digitization. This initiative is expected to enhance productivity, health monitoring, and transparency in the livestock sector.
