NCA-F Celebrates Purple Fest 2025 to Mark International Day of Persons with Disabilities

New Delhi, December 4, 2025 — The National Communications Academy–Finance (NCA-F), Ghitorni, a “Sarvotkrisht” 5-Star rated Central Training Institute under the Department of Telecommunications, celebrated Purple Fest 2025 on December 3rd to commemorate the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. The event was organised in collaboration with the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD) and witnessed enthusiastic participation from officer trainees, faculty, and visitors.


Senior Leadership Underscores Importance of Breaking Mental Barriers

The Fest was inaugurated by Ms. V. Vidyavathi, Secretary, DEPwD, who emphasised the need to break mental barriers and foster an inclusive society. She highlighted that true empowerment must begin with a shift in collective mindset, enabling equal participation for persons with disabilities.

The Director General, NCA-F, encouraged the gathering to strengthen their commitment to inclusive education, compassion, and empowerment, noting that such initiatives contribute significantly to building a more accessible India.

Senior DEPwD officials, including the Deputy Chief Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities (CCPD), were also present and shared valuable guidance and insights.




Officer Trainees Participate in Inclusive Activities and Engagement Sessions

A total of 176 Officer Trainees of the 2025 batch, representing 15 All India and Central Civil Services and undergoing the Special Foundation Course at NCA-F in collaboration with LBSNAA, Mussoorie, actively participated in the celebrations.

The day featured:

  • An inspiring address by Ms. Ira Singhal, IAS, which set the tone for the event

  • Interactive sessions and simulation experiences led by NGOs, designed to deepen understanding of accessibility challenges

  • A range of inclusive programmes aimed at promoting empathy, awareness, and sensitivity

These activities encouraged trainees to appreciate the lived experiences of persons with disabilities and highlighted the need for accessible policies and governance.


Training of Trainers (ToT) Conducted for NCA-F Faculty

A specialised Training of Trainers (ToT) session was conducted by the Deputy CCPD for NCA-F faculty members, focusing on disability rights, inclusive communication, and practical strategies for sensitisation.

Alongside, simulation activities were organised to build awareness of mobility, visual, and auditory challenges — fostering a more empathetic training environment.


Divyangjan Entrepreneurs Showcase Talent and Innovation

A vibrant exhibition space featuring stalls by Divyangjan entrepreneurs, including children and young adults, added a dynamic dimension to Purple Fest. Visitors, officer trainees, and residents engaged enthusiastically with the creators, providing them:

  • Visibility and recognition

  • Opportunities for financial empowerment

  • A platform to showcase talent, creativity, and entrepreneurial spirit

This initiative helped highlight the capabilities of persons with disabilities and reinforced the importance of economic inclusion.

Purple Fest 2025 stood out as a tribute to the resilience, talent, and aspirations of persons with disabilities. The event reaffirmed the collective responsibility of institutions and individuals alike to build a truly inclusive, accessible, and empathetic society.
