Nepal’s tourism sector has shown signs of recovery in 2024, with the country welcoming around 1.15 million visitors, according to the latest data from the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB). This marks an 8.8% increase from the previous year, when the country saw 1,014,817 tourists in 2023.

Despite the overall growth in international arrivals, the number of Indian tourists to Nepal has experienced a slight decline. In 2024, 317,773 visitors from India arrived by air, down by 0.68% from 319,936 in the previous year.

The overall growth in foreign tourism indicates that Nepal’s tourism industry is gradually bouncing back from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The NTB’s data highlights the nation’s appeal to global travelers, even as neighboring India shows a small dip in tourist numbers.

This development suggests that while Nepal remains a popular destination for international tourists, there may be factors influencing the reduction in the influx of visitors from India, including shifting travel preferences or economic factors.
