Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has urged the central government to allocate a special package in the upcoming Union Budget for the development of world-class tourism infrastructure in the state. During a pre-budget consultation meeting with Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, on Friday, Majhi emphasized that an investment of approximately ₹10,000 crore was required to enhance tourism facilities across Odisha.
In his request, Majhi outlined the state’s plans to elevate its tourism sector by developing state-of-the-art infrastructure to attract both domestic and international tourists. He stressed that the investment would significantly improve tourism facilities and help showcase Odisha’s rich cultural heritage, historical sites, and natural beauty.
“I request the Centre to announce a special package in the Budget for FY 2025-26 to support the development of tourism infrastructure in Odisha,” Majhi stated, as per a release from the Odisha Chief Minister’s Office (CMO).
Odisha, known for its scenic landscapes, ancient temples, and coastal attractions, aims to boost its tourism sector with this substantial financial backing to elevate the state’s tourism offerings to international standards.
