MUMBAI: Ola Electric, a leading name in India’s EV industry, launched its latest lineup of affordable electric scooters—Gig and S1 Z—on November 26, 2024. This move reaffirms Ola’s commitment to expanding electric mobility options across diverse market segments.
The new range includes four models: Ola Gig, Gig+, S1 Z, and S1 Z+, with starting prices of ₹39,999, ₹49,999, ₹59,999, and ₹64,999 (ex-showroom), respectively. Reservations are now open for just ₹499. Deliveries for Gig and Gig+ start in April 2025, while S1 Z variants will be available from May 2025.
Key Features
- Swappable Batteries: Designed for rural and urban markets, the scooters feature portable batteries compatible with Ola’s PowerPod, which doubles as a power inverter for home appliances.
- MoveOS 4 Update: The lineup operates on the latest software for improved performance, efficiency, and an enhanced user interface.
- Sustainability Focus: The Gig and S1 Z scooters are aimed at making EVs a cost-effective and environmentally friendly alternative to traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles.

Expansion Plans
To support this growth, Ola Electric is aggressively expanding its store and service infrastructure. The company aims to increase its store count to 2,000 by March 2025, while introducing swappable battery technology for more convenience.
The launch further strengthens Ola’s position as a market leader, with a 33% share in India’s EV sector. As competition heats up, the new offerings are poised to drive EV penetration deeper into India’s hinterlands.
