Breaking News

Madhya Pradesh: In a strong assertion of India’s military and industrial capability, Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh on August 10, 2025, laid the foundation stone of BEML’s Greenfield Rail Manufacturing Facility – BRAHMA in Umariya, Madhya Pradesh. During the ceremony, he hailed Operation Sindoor as “proof that India possesses the capability to defeat its enemies with home-grown strength,” describing it as a befitting response to the cowardly terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir.

“We do not provoke anyone, but those who provoke us will not be spared,” he warned, underlining India’s resolve to defend its sovereignty decisively.

Operation Sindoor: Symbol of Self-Reliance

Shri Rajnath Singh called Operation Sindoor a testament to India’s self-reliance and self-confidence, with the Armed Forces utilising indigenous equipment that played a pivotal role in its success. He credited Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s leadership for the transformation of the defence sector, which has seen record defence production of ₹1.51 lakh crore and exports of ₹23,622 crore in FY 2024–25.

“India now manufactures not just for its own needs but is also meeting the security requirements of friendly nations,” he said, stressing India’s rise as a global defence supplier.

BRAHMA: World-Class Rail Manufacturing for Domestic & Global Markets

The BEML Rail Hub for Manufacturing (BRAHMA) will span 148 acres and will be developed as a state-of-the-art rolling stock manufacturing unit. With a phased investment of ₹1,800 crore, the facility will initially produce 125–200 coaches annually, scaling up to 1,100 coaches per year within five years.

Products will include Vande Bharat trainsets, metro cars, high-speed rail coaches, Electrical Multiple Units (EMUs), and advanced exports-oriented rolling stock. In addition to creating over 5,000 direct and indirect jobs, the project will invigorate local supply chains and boost MSMEs in Madhya Pradesh’s industrial belt, especially in Singrauli, Satna, Rewa, and Katni.

Green & Future-Ready Manufacturing

In line with India’s sustainability goals, BRAHMA will feature zero liquid discharge systemssolar and renewable energy integrationrainwater harvesting, and eco-friendly landscaping. The use of recycled and sustainable materials will adhere to green factory norms and statutory environmental standards.

Shri Rajnath Singh said projects like BRAHMA are “critical in building the industrial and technological base needed for both national security and economic growth.”

Strengthening India’s Industrial Backbone

The Defence Minister lauded BEML as a “pillar” in India’s Aatmanirbhar journey, stressing that BRAHMA will reinforce India’s position as a globally competitive, future-ready mobility solutions hub. He urged greater focus on research and development, calling it the “foundation for any industry.”

Conclusion: Defence Power Meets Industrial Growth

The dual message from Operation Sindoor and the BRAHMA foundation laying was clear — India’s defence readiness and industrial might are firmly anchored in self-reliance, indigenous innovation, and global competitiveness. With the twin engines of strong national security and rapid economic growth, India is steadily marching towards the goal of Viksit Bharat by 2047.
