Pakistani Court Extends Interim Bail for Imran Khan and Wife Bushra Bibi in Toshakhana Case

Court Grants Relief Until January 7 Amidst Legal Turmoil

Breaking News

KARACHI: A Pakistani court has extended the interim bail of former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, in connection with the second Toshakhana case until January 7, 2024. This development comes as Imran Khan remains incarcerated in various other legal proceedings.

The hearing took place under the supervision of Additional Sessions Judge Muhammad Afzal Mujoka at Islamabad’s District and Sessions Court. The Toshakhana case, often termed as “Toshakhana 2.0,” revolves around allegations of financial discrepancies and misuse of gifts from the state treasury.

While Imran Khan, the 72-year-old former cricket star, continues to face legal hurdles, Bushra Bibi was granted post-arrest bail by the Islamabad High Court in October, following her arrest earlier this year.

This extension provides a temporary legal reprieve for both figures amidst ongoing political instability in Pakistan. With multiple cases against him, Khan’s legal battles and their implications on Pakistan’s political landscape remain closely monitored.

The interim relief granted to the former First Couple underscores the complexities of the legal system and political upheaval as they continue their fight to navigate these challenges.
