Islamabad: Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has announced plans to visit Bangladesh in early February, marking the first visit by a Pakistani foreign minister to Dhaka since 2012. This visit comes as part of efforts to strengthen bilateral ties between the two nations.

Dar’s upcoming trip follows a meeting between Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Bangladesh’s Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus on the sidelines of the D-8 Summit in Cairo last month. The meeting highlighted the mutual interest in improving diplomatic and economic relations between Pakistan and Bangladesh.

The announcement of Ishaq Dar’s visit is significant, as it is the first time in a decade that a Pakistani foreign minister will visit Bangladesh. This visit is expected to pave the way for further discussions on strengthening cooperation between the two countries in various sectors, including trade, security, and regional stability.

The visit is seen as a step towards reviving and building a positive relationship between Pakistan and Bangladesh, which had been strained in the past due to historical and political tensions. The two countries are now focused on improving their bilateral relations, and Dar’s visit is expected to further advance these efforts.
