With the election date of February 5 fast approaching and the counting of votes scheduled for February 8, the political atmosphere in Delhi is tense.

Breaking News

BJP leader Parvesh Verma, a candidate for the New Delhi constituency, has raised serious allegations against the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), claiming that Punjab government employees are installing Chinese-made CCTV cameras in the national capital. Verma stated that he has filed formal complaints with both the Election Commission and the Delhi Police over the issue.

Verma, who is set to challenge AAP’s Arvind Kejriwal for the New Delhi seat, expressed concerns about the large number of Punjab government ministers and MLAs reportedly traveling to Delhi. He pointed out that several vehicles with Punjab registration numbers were seen moving around the city. He questioned the reasons behind the influx of such large numbers of vehicles, particularly during the Republic Day preparations. “Thousands of vehicles with Punjab numbers are moving here. Who are the people in those vehicles? What are they planning to do that could potentially compromise our security?” Verma said.

Verma further claimed that these vehicles and the ministers involved were not just visiting for general political purposes but specifically for the New Delhi constituency. He voiced concerns about their presence in the city ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections, scheduled for February 5. Verma’s suspicion has sparked a broader debate over the AAP’s tactics in the lead-up to the polls.

The most serious of Verma’s allegations involves the installation of Chinese-made CCTV cameras by employees of the Punjab government. According to him, residents of a colony near India Gate raised alarms after noticing suspicious activity related to the CCTV installations. The individuals caught installing the cameras reportedly admitted that AAP members had sent them. “Government employees from Punjab are installing Chinese CCTV cameras,” Verma claimed. A few people complained to the police as the colony is in proximity to India Gate. The apprehended individuals claimed that AAP had sent them to install the CCTV cameras. I have filed a complaint with the Election Commission and Police,” Verma alleged.

In response to the allegations, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann held a rally in Delhi, where he expressed confidence in AAP’s prospects. He claimed that the party had gained significant support, citing the positive reception they had received from the public. “The kind of love and affection we are receiving from the people makes me confident about our success. In Punjab, we have fulfilled all our promises, and even the ones we didn’t make,” Mann said during the rally.

Meanwhile, the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections continue to heat up, with tensions rising between BJP and AAP. The Election Commission has launched an investigation into Verma’s claims, and the police have also become involved in the matter.

Earlier this month, the AAP accused Parvesh Verma of attempting to influence voters by distributing jackets, shoes, and money. Verma has denied these allegations, calling them baseless.

With the election date of February 5 fast approaching and the counting of votes scheduled for February 8, the political atmosphere in Delhi is tense. Both parties are vying for control of the capital, with every development—whether involving CCTV cameras or alleged voter manipulation—further intensifying the competition. The controversy over the CCTV installations is the latest in a series of accusations and counter-accusations, making this election one of the most closely watched in recent memory.
