PM Modi Launches Pravasi Bharatiya Express at 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, Celebrates India’s Young Talent

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas in Odisha, remotely flagged off the inaugural journey of the Pravasi Bharatiya Express, a special tourist train dedicated to the Indian diaspora. Speaking at the event, Modi lauded India’s young and skilled workforce, asserting that the country would be remembered for decades as the global hub for the youngest and most talented population.

At the heart of his speech, Modi emphasized India’s growing potential to meet the world’s demand for skilled professionals. “India will remain a country with the world’s youngest and most skilled population,” he said, stressing the importance of the diaspora in global relations. He further described the diaspora as India’s ambassadors, vital in strengthening ties with countries worldwide.

The Pravasi Bharatiya Express, which will depart from Nizamuddin railway station in Delhi, is designed to provide a unique travel experience for the Indian diaspora, showcasing India’s rich culture and heritage. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw shared details on social media, highlighting the significance of the train as part of the broader initiative to engage with the global Indian community.

The Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, being held from January 8 to 10, is jointly organized by the Ministry of External Affairs and the Odisha government. This year’s theme, “Diaspora’s Contribution to a Viksit Bharat,” focuses on the crucial role the Indian diaspora plays in nation-building.
