New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate several significant development projects in Delhi on Friday, marking an important day for the city’s progress. Taking to social media, PM Modi described the day as “important for Delhi’s development” and announced the inauguration and foundation-laying of several key projects aimed at improving the city’s infrastructure and living conditions.
The projects to be inaugurated include 1,675 newly constructed flats for residents of Jhuggi Jhopri (JJ) clusters in Ashok Vihar, which are expected to provide better housing for the underprivileged. Other highlights include the World Trade Centre (WTC) at Nauroji Nagar, General Pool Residential Accommodation (GPRA) Type-II Quarters at Sarojini Nagar, and a new Integrated Office Complex for the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) at Dwarka.
In addition to these inaugurations, PM Modi will lay the foundation stone for three major projects at Delhi University. These projects, worth ₹600 crore, include the Eastern Campus at Surajmal Vihar, the Western Campus at Dwarka, and the Veer Savarkar College in Roshanpura, Najafgarh, which will feature state-of-the-art facilities.
The naming of the college after Veer Savarkar has sparked controversy, with the Congress accusing the BJP of glorifying a figure who submitted mercy petitions to the British during the colonial era. The BJP has countered these accusations, defending the decision as a tribute to a key figure in India’s freedom struggle.
The launch of these projects is expected to contribute to improving the ‘Ease of Living’ for Delhi’s residents, providing better infrastructure, housing, and educational facilities in the city.
