As part of the Republic Day celebrations 2026, the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA), Government of India, organised a three-day programme in New Delhi for over 100 interns selected under the Prime Minister Internship Scheme (PMIS). Interns currently working with leading companies across sectors are participating in national-level engagements, cultural exposure and interactions with senior leadership, including a special interaction on 25 January 2026 with the Minister of State for Corporate Affairs and Road Transport & Highways, Shri Harsh Malhotra.

During their interaction with Shri Harsh Malhotra, the interns shared their experiences, aspirations and feedback on the PMIS programme. The Minister underscored the transformative role of internships in shaping young careers and empowering the next generation.
He stated:
“India’s youth have a pivotal role to play in realising Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji’s vision for Viksit Bharat @2047. PMIS is designed to open new opportunities and serve as a bridge between theoretical learning and practical experience, equipping young Indians with meaningful, on-ground exposure in leading companies.”

Sarawan Kumar (Bihar), Sales Intern at Piramal Enterprises, described PMIS as a life-changing opportunity. An arts graduate working in loan processing, he said the programme opened doors he had never imagined.

He currently receives ₹5,000 per month under PMIS, along with an additional ₹9,500 monthly incentive from his company.

Himani Malhotra (Haryana), Application Development Intern at IBM, called the internship a turning point in her life. Selected for an opportunity in Karnataka, she embraced the experience despite geographical distance.

“This experience has shown me that with the right opportunity, distance is not a barrier,” she shared.
