Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Thursday rejected the BJP’s accusations that her brother, Rahul Gandhi, had pushed two BJP MPs during a protest outside Parliament. The BJP had accused Rahul Gandhi of injuring MPs Pratap Sarangi and Mukesh Rajput, who were reportedly hurt in the scuffle.
In her response, Priyanka Gandhi defended Rahul, stating that he had been peacefully entering Parliament while carrying a photo of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and chanting the “Jai Bhim” slogan. She claimed that the BJP MPs had blocked his entry and were responsible for the jostling that occurred. She further alleged that the BJP was orchestrating a conspiracy to protect Union Home Minister Amit Shah and deflect attention from the issue at hand.
“Rahul ji was peacefully entering the Parliament when the BJP MPs stopped him. This is all part of a conspiracy to save Amit Shah ji,” Priyanka said. She also recounted how, in her view, BJP MPs were engaged in aggressive behavior, pushing Congress and opposition members, including Leader of the Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge.
The incident, which escalated tensions between the Congress and BJP, resulted in the injury of two BJP MPs. Sarangi, from Odisha, sustained an injury to his forehead, and Mukesh Rajput was also hospitalized after the altercation. BJP MP Nishikant Dubey criticized Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of engaging in “gundagardi” (hooliganism) by pushing an elderly MP.
In response, Rahul Gandhi claimed that he had been pushed and threatened by BJP MPs while trying to enter Parliament. He also reiterated that Kharge had been pushed and fell to the ground during the scuffle.
