HYDERABAD: Tensions escalated outside Allu Arjun’s residence in Hyderabad’s Jubilee Hills on Sunday evening as protesters, claiming to be from the Osmania University Joint Action Committee (OU JAC), vandalised his home. The group, holding placards and demanding accountability, threw stones and tomatoes at the actor’s house and broke flower pots, insisting that Arjun take better care of the family of the woman who died in the Pushpa 2 stampede incident.
The protesters were demanding that Allu Arjun pay at least ₹1 crore to the family of the deceased, Revathi, alleging that the compensation offered so far was insufficient. They also voiced anger over the apparent lack of attention given to the victim’s family, claiming that many film personalities had shown up when Arjun was released from jail, but none had supported the family after the tragic incident. “We want Allu Arjun to stand behind Revathi’s family and help her son, Sri Teja,” one protester told a local TV channel.
The attack took place while the actor and his family were at home. Allu Arjun’s children, Arha and Ayaan, were safely taken to their maternal uncle’s house by the actor’s staff. The police responded promptly, making eight arrests in connection with the incident.
The protests stem from the tragic stampede that occurred on December 4, when Arjun, along with co-star Rashmika Mandanna, visited Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad, leading to chaos and the death of Revathi. The incident also left her son critically injured. Following this, Arjun was briefly arrested on December 13 but released the next day on interim bail.
While several celebrities visited Arjun after his release, Telangana CM Revanth Reddy has accused the actor of being aware of the fatality at the time of the stampede, a claim that has been backed by the police. However, Arjun maintains that he was unaware of the death until the following day. Further developments are awaited.
