New Delhi: As India commemorated the 11th International Day of Yoga (IDY) with renewed enthusiasm, Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) across the nation emerged as powerful agents of change—promoting holistic health, inclusive participation, and long-term social responsibility. In particular, the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) led the way with a series of diverse and impactful programs that brought yoga into the heart of public life.
From mass gatherings to specialized outreach, the PSU-led initiatives showcased how yoga could be woven into the daily fabric of society, transforming both individual well-being and collective consciousness.
🧘♂️ Yoga Sangam: Unity in Wellness
The flagship event Yoga Sangam, held at the CISF Ground in JNPA Township, brought together over 10,000 yoga enthusiasts including CISF personnel, PPP operators, FSSAI representatives, students, youth groups, and members of surrounding communities. Conducted by the RRAP-CARI team, the event served as a vibrant expression of unity, vitality, and shared purpose. The sheer scale and diversity of participation underscored yoga’s universal appeal and JNPA’s commitment to people-first governance.
🌱 Harit Yoga: Blending Sustainability with Mindfulness
Recognizing the synergy between environmental and personal well-being, JNPA launched Harit Yoga, aligning it with World Environment Day. This initiative encouraged participants to integrate eco-conscious habits with yogic practices, promoting a dual focus on planetary health and inner balance. It represented a thoughtful shift toward sustainable living, making yoga more than a physical exercise—transforming it into a mindful lifestyle choice.
🧒 Yoga Unplugged and Yoga Mahakumbh: Empowering the Youth and Communities
With a forward-looking focus on youth engagement, Yoga Unplugged was designed to introduce school students to the benefits of mindfulness, self-discipline, and mental resilience in an engaging, age-appropriate manner. This was followed by Yoga Mahakumbh, a community-focused session conducted across multiple locations, including the Skill Development Centre in Belapur and the JNPA Administration Building. These sessions emphasized stress management and capacity building, especially among young professionals and trainees.
♿ Yoga Samavesh: A Message of Empathy and Inclusivity
Demonstrating yoga’s accessibility for all, JNPA organized Yoga Samavesh—specially designed sessions for differently-abled individuals. These inclusive gatherings did more than celebrate diversity; they empowered marginalized groups, fostering deeper connections and greater empathy within the community. The sessions resonated with the broader vision of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’, ensuring that no one is left behind.
🏞️ Yoga Park: A Long-Term Vision for Daily Wellness
In a bold move toward institutionalizing wellness, JNPA inaugurated a dedicated Yoga Park, providing a permanent open-air facility to promote daily practice among township residents. This infrastructure reflects a paradigm shift from event-based wellness to everyday engagement, setting a precedent for other public institutions to follow.
🌍 Yoga Connect: Cross-Border Collaboration in Wellness
Adding a global dimension to IDY 2025, JNPA organized Yoga Connect, a collaborative session with international faculty from the Port of Antwerp, Belgium. This event showcased the soft power of Indian culture, positioning yoga as a global bridge for peace, collaboration, and wellness diplomacy.
🏢 PSU-Wide Participation: A National Movement
Beyond JNPA, PSUs across the country embraced the spirit of IDY 2025. Notably, NBCC (National Buildings Construction Corporation Limited) and CONCOR (Container Corporation of India Ltd.) hosted their own editions of Yoga Mahakumbh, engaging a wide spectrum of citizens across regions and professional backgrounds. Their active involvement reflected a shared commitment to embed wellness in organizational culture.
🌟 A New Definition of Public Service
The 2025 celebration of the International Day of Yoga goes beyond ceremonial observance. It represents a transformative vision of public service—where PSUs serve not only as infrastructure providers but also as guardians of holistic well-being. Through thoughtfully curated programs, JNPA and its peers have illustrated that social responsibility is not limited to corporate giving—it is about uplifting the body, mind, and spirit of the nation.
As India continues to scale new heights in health, sustainability, and global leadership, the collective efforts of these public institutions serve as a powerful reminder of the role yoga can play in building a more resilient, empathetic, and united society.
