Quick Commerce to Challenge E-commerce Giants in 2025: Zepto CEO

Breaking News

The quick commerce sector is poised to rival established e-commerce leaders like Amazon and Flipkart by 2025, according to Zepto co-founder and CEO Aadit Palicha.

Palicha highlighted Zepto’s significant growth, including a 120% increase in operating revenue to ₹4,454 crore in FY24, surpassing competitors such as Swiggy’s Instamart and Zomato’s Blinkit. He emphasized that the success of quick commerce will depend on “exceptional execution,” noting that it will be challenging for all players to achieve this level of performance.

He also predicted that the fundamentals of quick commerce will evolve dramatically in 2025, with improvements in customer value propositions, unit economics, and operating leverage. Additionally, he anticipates changes in the capital markets environment for the industry.

Zepto has been actively expanding its operations, with plans to establish 700 dark stores by March 2025, further solidifying its footprint in the quick commerce sector. The company is also preparing for an initial public offering (IPO) in 2025, with a focus on achieving profitability and full Indian ownership by FY26.

On New Year’s Eve, Zepto reported a 200% increase in sales compared to the previous year, handling lakhs of orders per hour. Similarly, competitor Blinkit achieved its highest-ever orders in a day on December 31, indicating robust growth in the quick commerce sector.
