New Delhi: On September 21, 2025, Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh met the vibrant Indian diaspora in Rabat, Morocco, in a gathering marked by pride and reflection. The diaspora commended the Armed Forces’ decisive, measured response during Operation Sindoor, India’s counterstrike launched after the tragic terrorist attack in Pahalgam. Shri Rajnath Singh affirmed that the Armed Forces had full operational freedom but acted with restraint, targeting only terrorist infrastructure while avoiding escalation or civilian harm. Quoting the Ramcharitmanas, he stated, “Humne dharm dekh kar nahi, karm dekh kar maara hai,” underscoring India’s principle of acting on deeds, not identity.
India’s Strategic Response in Operation Sindoor
Operation Sindoor took place from May 7–10, 2025, marking a significant moment in India’s defence doctrine. After the Pahalgam terrorist attack, which killed 26 civilians, India launched precision strikes against Pakistan-based terrorist camps, meticulously using indigenous weapon systems. These actions were characterized by restraint, focusing exclusively on terrorist infrastructure and maintaining a non-escalatory stance. India refrained from targeting civilian or military sites, a choice aimed at upholding international norms and avoiding a broader conflict. Despite Pakistani retaliation with drone and missile strikes on Indian military installations, the conflict was contained through rapid counter-actions and a negotiated ceasefire.
India’s Rise and Diaspora Pride
In his address, Shri Rajnath Singh also celebrated India’s multidimensional progress over the past decade under Prime Minister Modi. India has climbed from the 11th to the 4th largest economy in the world, with digital advancements, a flourishing knowledge economy, and a surge in unicorn startups — rising from 18 to 118 in 10 years. The defence sector stands out with production values at ₹1.5 lakh crore and exports exceeding ₹23,000 crore to over 100 countries. The Raksha Mantri acknowledged the hard work, dedication, and integrity of the Indian community abroad, recalling Swami Vivekananda’s stress on character as the true measure of a person. Members of the diaspora echoed their pride in India’s rising global influence and strong national foundations.
Conclusion of Morocco Meet
The interaction in Morocco showcased not only solidarity with the Indian Armed Forces but also pride in India’s balanced, principle-driven policies. It reaffirmed the diaspora’s critical role in promoting India’s interests globally and echoed the sentiment that national strength lies in character, unity, and a firm yet restrained defence posture.
