Hyderabad — Raksha Rajya Mantri Shri Sanjay Seth undertook a comprehensive two-day visit to the Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Missile Complex in Hyderabad on July 16 and 17, 2025. The visit underscored the government’s focus on accelerating indigenous defense capabilities under the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat.

The Minister reviewed ongoing missile and weapon system development programs at three premier laboratories under the Missile Cluster of Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) — namely, the Defence Research and Development Laboratory (DRDL), Research Centre Imarat (RCI), and Advanced Systems Laboratory (ASL).

High-Level Briefings and Project Inspections

At DRDL, Shri Seth inspected key facilities and received briefings on critical missile programs including Astra Mk I & II, the Vertically-Launched Short-Range Surface-to-Air Missile (VL-SRSAM), and Scramjet Engine projects. Distinguished Scientist and Director General (Missiles and Strategic Systems) Shri U Raja Babu, along with DRDL Director Shri G.A. Srinivasa Murthy, presented detailed updates on the current status and upcoming milestones of these projects.

The Minister’s visit continued to RCI, where Director Shri Anindya Biswas provided insights into the lab’s progress on Indigenous Navigation and Aviation Systems, the Onboard Computer Division, and the advanced Imaging Infra-Red Seeker technology.

Expressing deep appreciation for the efforts of DRDO scientists, Raksha Rajya Mantri Sanjay Seth commended the team’s contributions to national security and technological innovation. He lauded the missile cluster’s role in fortifying India’s defense infrastructure with cutting-edge, homegrown weapon systems.
