In an interview, she said, “No one from the Kodava community has entered the film industry before me. Actress Nidhi Subbaiah, who has appeared in both Kannada and Hindi films, also disagreed with Rashmika’s claim. She stated, “It might have been a joke, but that doesn’t make it true. We should not make it a serious issue, but we shouldn’t forget the truth either.”

Tanisha Kuppanda added to the conversation by naming other prominent Kodava stars like Daisy Bopanna and Harshika Poonacha, saying that trying to appear perfect by giving such statements often leads to contradictions. Her sarcastic remark, “If that’s true, Rashmika must be just two decades old,” reflected the community’s disbelief.

Support and Calls for Caution Within the Kodava Community

While many expressed frustration, actress Harshika Poonacha urged the public not to cancel Rashmika for her words but to correct her instead. She said perhaps Rashmika meant she was the first to reach a certain level of fame in Telugu and Hindi cinema. “We all make mistakes. Let’s correct them instead of cancelling someone,” she added.

Harshika highlighted that the Kodava community had long been represented by achievers across sectors from Field Marshal Cariappa in the military to Prasad Bidappa in fashion, and several film stars as well.
