With early metro services and enhanced security checks, DMRC is ensuring that commuters have a smooth journey on Republic Day.

Breaking News

As Delhi prepares for the grand celebrations of the 76th Republic Day on January 26, 2025, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has released important updates to help commuters navigate the city during the event. The advisory highlights the early start of metro services, increased security measures, and traffic restrictions in place due to the Republic Day celebrations at Kartavya Path.

Early Metro Service for Republic Day Parade

To accommodate those traveling to attend the Republic Day parade, Delhi Metro will begin operations early, starting at 3:00 am on January 26. The trains will run across all metro lines to ensure smooth travel for early attendees of the ceremony. Between 3:00 am and 6:00 am, metro trains will operate at 30-minute intervals. After 6:00 am, services will return to the regular timetable.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation shared the update on X (formerly Twitter), encouraging passengers to plan their travel accordingly and utilize the early metro services to avoid delays. The advisory also mentioned that this special service schedule will help people reach Kartavya Path on time to witness the Republic Day ceremony. After the early hours, the metro will follow the regular timetable for the rest of the day.

Enhanced Security Checks

In addition to early operations, DMRC also announced that enhanced security checks would be implemented at all metro stations from January 26 to January 27, 2025. Passengers are advised to expect more thorough screening procedures and to arrive early to account for any additional time needed for security checks.

Traffic Advisory for Republic Day

The Delhi Traffic Police has issued a traffic advisory due to the Republic Day celebrations. Authorities will restrict several roads and areas, particularly in central Delhi, to ensure the smooth conduct of the events. A function will take place at the National War Memorial near India Gate at 9:30 am, followed by the Republic Day parade starting at 10:30 am and proceeding toward the Red Fort.

From 5:00 pm on the eve of Republic Day (January 25), the authorities will restrict vehicles from entering Kartavya Path, from Vijay Chowk to India Gate, until the conclusion of the parade. Additionally, they will block cross-traffic on Kartavya Path starting at 10:00 pm on January 25, covering roads such as Rafi Marg, Janpath, and Man Singh Road, and continuing until the official events conclude the following day.

On Republic Day itself, authorities will close the C-Hexagon to India Gate stretch from 9:15 am until the marchers cross Tilak Marg. Motorists must follow the updated traffic restrictions to avoid disruptions during the celebrations.

With early metro services and enhanced security checks, DMRC is ensuring that commuters have a smooth journey on Republic Day. The traffic advisory provides crucial information about road closures and restrictions, helping the city manage the large crowds expected to attend the Republic Day festivities. Authorities advise commuters to plan their travel well in advance to avoid any last-minute issues.
