Rescue Operation Underway After Multi-Storey Building Collapses in Mohali, Several Feared Trapped

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann expressed his concern over the tragic event

Breaking News

A multi-storey building in Mohali, Punjab, collapsed on Saturday, trapping several people under the debris. District authorities have launched an intense rescue operation with two excavators and a fire brigade team on site. National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) personnel have also joined the efforts to locate and rescue those trapped.

Eyewitnesses reported hearing a loud noise when the building gave way, and early investigations suggest the collapse may have been triggered by excavation work in a nearby area, which involved digging a basement. The incident occurred near Sohana, in Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar (Mohali).

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Deepak Pareek arrived at the scene and confirmed that teams from the police, fire department, and NDRF are actively engaged in the operation. However, the exact number of people trapped remains unclear at this time. Authorities are focused on ensuring the safety of the victims and investigating the cause of the collapse.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann expressed his concern over the tragic event, offering support to the rescue efforts. In a statement on social media, he said, “I am in constant touch with the administration. All rescue teams have been deployed to the site, and we pray that there is no loss of life. Strict action will be taken against those responsible.”

He also urged the local community to cooperate with the authorities as they continue their efforts to provide assistance and uncover the cause of the disaster.
