Union Minister of State for Communications and Rural Development, Dr Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar, addressed a Rozgar Mela at ITBP RTC, Shivagangai, Tamil Nadu, on 24 January 2026, reaffirming the Government of India’s commitment to employment generation and youth empowerment. The Minister praised Tamil Nadu’s contribution to India’s economic growth, describing the state as a hub of talent, innovation and enterprise. He noted that:

  • Chennai contributes over 10% of India’s automobile exports

  • The IT sector employs more than six lakh professionals in the state

  • Skill development and entrepreneurship initiatives have enabled thousands to convert aspirations into sustainable livelihoods

He added that the Rozgar Mela builds upon this legacy by opening new pathways for youth empowerment.


Over 10 Lakh Appointment Letters Distributed Nationwide

  • Over 10 lakh appointment letters have already been distributed across the country under the Rozgar Mela initiative

He stated that reforms such as PM Mudra Yojana, Ease of Doing Business, and Vocal for Local have strengthened domestic industries.

In the telecom sector, he noted that the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme has already resulted in:

  • 25,000 manufacturing jobs

  • Exports worth ₹13,000 crore

This, he said, reflects how policy-driven growth can deliver both economic strength and employment opportunities.


Self-Reliance in Defence Strengthens Jobs and National Security

Touching upon national security and employment, Dr Chandra Sekhar said India has moved from import dependence to self-reliance in defence manufacturing, leading to:

  • Creation of high-skill jobs

  • Strengthening of indigenous defence production

  • Improved border infrastructure

  • Enhanced welfare of soldiers

He noted that increased defence spending and domestic manufacturing are contributing to both strategic strength and employment generation.
