National e-Governance Division Proudly Collaborates with Sahakar Taxi to Launch Bharat Taxi, a Cooperative-Driven National Ride-Hailing Platform: 2025

Breaking News

In a pioneering move to reshape India’s mobility ecosystem, the National e-Governance Division (NeGD), Digital India Corporation, Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY), has partnered with Sahakar Taxi Cooperative Limited to launch Bharat Taxi — a first-of-its-kind, cooperative-driven, citizen-first national ride-hailing initiative slated for December 2025.

Partnership and Advisory Role

NeGD and Sahakar Taxi formalised their collaboration through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which facilitates strategic advisory and technical support focused on platform integration, cybersecurity, data privacy, compliance, and governance. This alliance reflects the spirit of cooperation embedded in India’s Digital India vision to promote inclusive, tech-enabled public services while fostering transparency and trust.

Cooperative Backbone and Stakeholder Support

Bharat Taxi is jointly promoted by India’s strongest cooperatives and financial institutions, including NCDC, IFFCO, AMUL, KRIBHCO, NAFED, NABARD, NDDB, and NCEL. The platform not only embodies cooperative principles but also ensures that drivers gain ownership, fair remuneration, and social security benefits — an empowering alternative to conventional ride-hailing models.

Technological Integration and User Experience

NeGD’s advisory role includes integrating Bharat Taxi with key national digital platforms like DigiLocker, UMANG, and API Setu to enable seamless identity verification and service delivery. Ensuring robust cybersecurity architecture, regulatory compliance, and accessibility features such as multilingual UI/UX design are priorities to deliver a secure and user-friendly experience for all citizens across urban and rural areas.

Vision and Impact

The launch of Bharat Taxi promises a paradigm shift in India’s mobility landscape by fostering a cooperative, transparent, and citizen-centric platform. The initiative aims to create equitable earning opportunities for drivers, transparent pricing for riders, and a decentralized mobility framework that empowers communities nationwide.
