Eliyama Philip, the nanny of Saif Ali Khan’s son Jeh, has provided a harrowing account of the knife attack that left the actor seriously injured. In a statement to the police, Philip, who was the first to encounter the attacker, revealed that the intruder demanded ₹1 crore during the terrifying incident.
The attack took place early Thursday morning in the Chattarpur Enclave area of Delhi. Authorities confirmed that the intruder did not break into the actor’s residence but likely sneaked in sometime during the night with intentions of robbery. Philip, who has worked for Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor for four years, was sleeping on the floor in Jeh’s room when she woke up at around 2 AM after hearing a noise.
In her statement, Philip described seeing a man moving toward Jeh’s bed. She attempted to protect the child, but the intruder pushed her away. “I sat up to see who was in the bathroom… I saw a thin and short man come out and go towards Jeh’s bed,” she said. The attacker then threatened her, pointing his finger and warning, “Koi awaaz nahi” (“No noise”).
When she asked the intruder what he wanted, the man demanded money. “He said he wanted ₹1 crore,” Philip recalled. During the altercation, the intruder attacked her with a blade, injuring her wrist. Amidst the chaos, Philip screamed for help, alerting Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor, who rushed out of their room to intervene. A violent struggle ensued, during which Khan was grievously injured.
The attacker managed to flee the scene through the fire exit staircase, as captured in CCTV footage. Authorities have formed multiple teams to investigate the case and are questioning guards and other house staff members.
Doctors at Lilavati Hospital, where Khan was taken for treatment, confirmed that he would fully recover from his injuries. The medical team revealed that Khan sustained six injuries, including two minor, two intermediate, and two deep wounds. One of the deep injuries was located close to his spine, and doctors had to remove a 2.5-inch piece of the blade lodged in his back. Dr. Niraj Uttamani, the hospital’s chief operating officer, reassured the public that Khan’s condition is stable.
As the police investigation continues, they are focusing on determining the motive behind the attack and identifying the intruder.
