School Reopen Begins Across Tamil Nadu as Summer Break Ends
The much-awaited school reopen day has finally arrived in Tamil Nadu after a 36-day summer break. Starting from June 2, schools across the state had remained closed for the annual vacation. Today, students are returning to classrooms with excitement and a sense of freshness as schools resume operations.
School Reopen Rush Crowds Markets and Transport Hubs
Ahead of the school reopen day, Tamil Nadu saw a busy Sunday in markets, bus stands, and railway stations. Parents and students swarmed local markets to buy school essentials like uniforms, school bags, notebooks, and shoes. The shopping activity surged especially in cities like Thanjavur, Tiruppur, Kovilpatti, and Tenkasi. Vendors reported a sharp increase in demand, turning local bazaars lively and crowded.
Meanwhile, those who had traveled to their native places or tourist spots for the holidays were seen returning to their regular residences. Railway and bus stations were flooded with passengers coming back from vacation. At Madurai station, the rush to board the Pandiyan Express to Chennai led to arguments as some passengers accused authorities of letting in known individuals before others. Similar scenes unfolded in Nellai with the unreserved Antyodaya Express, where people scrambled to get in without prior bookings.
Heavy traffic was also reported on roads leading to Chennai. Vehicles lined up at toll booths like Aathur in Chengalpattu district and various points along GST Road, as families returned from out-of-town trips before the school reopen day.
School Reopen Brings Fresh Start with Books, Uniforms, and Clean Campuses
Schools were seen prepared to welcome students, with clean classrooms and organized setups. Sanitation work was completed in advance to ensure a fresh and healthy environment for the students. Headmasters and school staff were instructed by the Education Department to receive children with warmth and enthusiasm, making their return memorable.
Today, students will be given their textbooks and school uniforms on campus itself. The Education Department has made arrangements for smooth distribution to help students settle into their school routines quickly.
