Scindia Reviews BSNL Operations, Emphasizes ‘Customer First’ Approach and Revenue-Led Growth: July 2025

New Delhi, 28 July 2025 – Union Minister for Communications Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia chaired a high-level review meeting with Chief General Managers (CGMs) of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) in New Delhi today. The meeting focused on assessing BSNL’s operational performance, identifying regional challenges, and laying out a forward-looking strategy aimed at improving network services and customer satisfaction across India.

Also present at the meeting were Minister of State for Communications Shri Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar, senior officials from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), and key Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited executives from across the country.


📈 Focus on Growth, Modernization, and Accountability

In his address, Shri Scindia emphasized the urgent need for BSNL to align its operations with a clear “Revenue First” mandate, calling for greater accountability and performance-driven outcomes across all levels of the organisation.

“BSNL must evolve into a service-first, financially strong, and digitally empowered enterprise, with customer experience at the heart of every decision,” the Minister said during a media briefing.

He also highlighted the need for modernization of services and infrastructure to meet growing public expectations, especially in underserved rural and semi-urban areas.




🌐 Key Priority Areas Identified

The Minister and senior BSNL leadership outlined several priority areas to improve service delivery, including:

  • Reconnecting with customers across rural, urban, enterprise, and retail segments

  • Enhancing Quality of Service (QoS) in mobile and fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) networks

  • Timely grievance redressal in billing, provisioning, and network uptime

  • Driving “Revenue-First” accountability at all operational levels

  • Expanding enterprise solutions such as VPNs, leased lines, and government-specific offerings


📡 New Service Initiatives Highlighted

During the review, BSNL showcased a range of recent service initiatives aimed at boosting customer value and service innovation:

  • Pan-India 4G rollout across multiple telecom circles

  • IFTV for FTTH and BiTV for mobile – next-gen infotainment platforms

  • BSNL National Wi-Fi Roaming for seamless internet access nationwide

  • Spam-Free Network – India’s first real-time solution to block spam/scam messages

  • Tailored VPN packages for enterprise and government users

  • CNPN projects for mission-critical, high-reliability connectivity

  • BBA (BSNL Business Associate) Portal – enabling youth participation in BSNL’s sales and commission model


Driving a Digitally Empowered Bharat

Shri Scindia reiterated the Government’s commitment to expanding affordable, high-quality digital infrastructure to every corner of the country. He praised the company’s efforts to reach the remotest areas and called for a sharper focus on digital empowerment, customer engagement, and financial sustainability.

“BSNL must lead the way in realizing the vision of a truly connected and digitally inclusive Bharat,” he said.
