Security Forces Neutralize Three Terrorists in Akhnoor, Jammu and Kashmir

Intense Operation Follows Terrorist Attack on Army Convoy, Reaffirming Commitment to Security in the Region

Breaking News

In a significant counter-terrorism operation, security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Akhnoor region successfully neutralized three terrorists on October 29, following a fierce encounter that began the previous day. The operation intensified on Tuesday morning as security personnel launched a final assault against the remaining militants holed up in a forested area near the Assan temple in Jogwan village, Khour.

The operation was triggered on Monday morning when the terrorists ambushed an army convoy, specifically targeting an ambulance. The quick response from security forces led to the death of one terrorist by evening. On Tuesday, two more terrorists were gunned down as the firefight resumed, marked by intense gunfire and explosions heard in the vicinity.

The security forces, which included special forces and NSG commandos, employed a multi-faceted approach, utilizing BMP-II infantry combat vehicles and helicopters for surveillance and to tighten the cordon around the terrorists’ hideout. Tragically, the operation also claimed the life of Phantom, a four-year-old army dog, who was shot during the confrontation.

Officials confirmed that the three terrorists had infiltrated into Indian territory the night prior to the ambush. Reports indicate that they fled into the nearby forest after the initial attack but were subsequently located and engaged by security personnel.

Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, commented on the ongoing violence, stating, “Every drop of innocent blood spilt in the valley will be avenged.” His remarks underscore the government’s commitment to addressing terrorism in the region, following a recent surge in attacks that have resulted in the deaths of soldiers and civilians alike. Just last week, two soldiers and two civilians lost their lives in an ambush in Baramulla, and a local doctor along with six non-local laborers were killed at a construction site in Ganderbal.

As the situation unfolds, security forces remain vigilant in their efforts to combat terrorism and ensure the safety of the region’s inhabitants.
